Coincidentally, I bought my grandson (8) for Xmas a complete chest of colouring pens and pencils. I’ve asked that he bring them down today for NYE.
I’m not a great fan of these easy puzzles but, I suppose, I should be grateful for the extra time it gives me. Being a single mum, albeit they’re grown up now, things do get hectic at this time of year.
Happy New Year to you all.

I'm always happy when something in what Michael Mcintyre calls the 'Man Drawer' - ie 'That will come in useful one day' - actually pays off!!
Happy New Year all.

As the man said - "It may come in handy one of these days, even if you never use it"

This must be an easy one because I have finished it apart from two letters (aargh the frustration!!!!)

7a old pelts, more than once cut from oxen I have ??ODS. I cannot find any inspiration. I'm guessing old pelts is the definition, but cannot parse anything to get me started looking for a word. Nor for 8d which links.

Laertes, for anyone who spent any part of their childhood on a farm, there was inevitably a time when clods got thrown, may even have been cowpats, but always a good laugh so long as you weren't the kid going home covered in dirt. And the act of throwing was clodding. 8D is an old setter favourite, LIN, a pool (variant of Linn); followed by D, giving LIND, an alternative for lime tree. Happy New Year, 'Any colour you like'

Easy but pleasant enough. I’m very happy as it means I’ve hit my 75% unaided solve target for the year, up from just over 50 % last year.

Happy new year to all.

Thanks Meursault. I've been clodded plenty in my time, wet West of Ireland clods too, but that never occured to me for the answer :). I'd forgotten Linn . Ta and HNY.

This was one of the easier puzzles: to put it another way I managed to complete it.
Having said that I am uncertain about the instruction "orientated so that letters of all across and down answers occur in the right order", 22 across begins pe and 22down begins ep so how should the double cell be portrayed? If past form is anything to go by I may have done something wrong so any guidance is welcome
Thanks
