I'm so glad that other solvers struggled like I did with the PDM, as when it came, I felt a little foolish. As for the "dodgy" clues I mentioned, I really meant 30A & 45A, my last solve, the former as I still don't get it, and the latter as I feel hose is a rather obtuse definition for water. Other than that I agree the rest of the clues were excellent.

30 Across is Pep = life, zest +R, one of the three Rs, (reading, writing...) Prep = Pupil is in Chambers.

It's always a good idea to give the clues...

32 Baldrick, for one, has developed after start of series (4) Sash

A baldrick is a sash. It's an anagram (developed) of 'has' + the S at the start of 'series'.
