Thanks ethik/xij - kick myself for not spotting anagram indicator - even more amazing when you have the answer and it's staring you in the face!

Am struggling despite taking note of helpful comments above. I have the top 2 quadrants completed. I have words that contain the thematic elements required for the other 2. However, as one of the quadrants needs to have its clues entered backwards I wonder if one of these is a red herring ( probably the 3 letter element) I have about 5 clues to go but was hoping to place some of the clues I've solved to help. However can't get anything to fit. A gentle nudge would be appreciated.

Bambi - if you have completed the northeast quadrant then the southeast quadrant has virtually the same format. Reversed can mean upwards as well as backwards and that same quadrant does not contain the three letter element.

Bambi, when filling carte blanche grids, there is a useful axiom to follow. That is to look for possible intersections involving less frequently-used letters of the alphabet (since the likelyhood will be quite high that the perceived intersections are correct). This holds true for each of the quadrants with intersecting entries, with the letter Y for the SW and NE corner, and the letter W for the SE quadrant.

Bambi - Also remember that preamble said bars would be appropriate in only one segment - so be prepared to get a couple of non-words in SW

I've found this puzzle engrossing with a series of enjoyable PDMs. Just one clue to parse, in the SW quadrant:

'Tipped sack of sushi...': I've got the misprint as L but still can't decide if the fifth letter is I or O.

Anyone able to shed a little light, please?
