I'm quite sure that we have all completed identical grids. But I think that we are missing the logical nexus between the characteristics of the individual quadrants, which ought to justify the methods of filling. Has anyone made a plausible connection?

The four corresponding "elements" start in the same place in each quadrant but are of differing lengths. Hope that helps.

All done but I don’t understand RADISH as the answer to the Root of gods clue. Thanks for any elaboration.

unclued, could it be di = gods, ash = from volcano, r = ruble (m out)?

I'm still struggling to see a logical, unequivocal way to enter lines 2 to 5 of the NW quadrant. I'm becoming a little choleric!

Doesn’t second word in NW have to be FARERS?

Unclued, I had fakers, but wasn't happy with it...

I started top left with FIRERS because of the thematic element in the word. All four thematic items must be along the top line of their quadrant.

Still don't understand "farers". Does fare = flourish? And I can see that the NW quadrant can be one of those word ladders puzzles, but why?
