Thank you for that Spoffy. I now have the first four sets of omitted letters as AL-LT-CH-FU and they are making no sense whatsoever to me. I suspect either the first or fourth or both of those are wrong. I also have the last two pairs as FA-AR and suspect the lat of those is wrong. Back to the drawing-board when I get chance.

Hi alwayspuzzled, perhaps a transcribing error in the 3rd set, HE rather than CH! The last should be IR which should make it apparent.

Hi always puzzled, I think if you find another word for 'blonde', you may then have it. I clearly was not in the same plot as the Buttercup, but I'm there now.
