For the first time ever I'm completely stumped! Can anyone give me an idea of where to start?

How far have you got? One hint - the solutions to the Across clues are one letter shorter than the entries.

I've literally got a blank grid! (spent a couple of hours yesterday trying to start it and ditto today) My brain is obviously not in tune with the setter!

I was the same as you, mjk. I've now solved about 7 clues.

For the downs, a letter needs to move. Eg 29d - move an A so that you get "to hoard" at the end of the clue. The defn is a covered walkway and the answer is hidden in the clue, 4 letters.

What does the early instruction in the preamble mean " how one letter in each across answer must be treated before entry "? Are new words formed by adding a letter or are blanks left? Help with 1a or 7d might keep me going! 1a Naturally created BO that's later eradicated (5) I have ac---
7d Roar angled by way of keeping a person on edge of seat perhaps (7). The first letter may be S.

Hi Marca,

I'm in the very early stages so could be wrong. But I have a hunch.

From 15ac - casein being a protein, giving case - if s is replaced with adjacent letters (r,t) it gives a word.

Same for 18a, which is hidden in the clue for the 5 letter answer, and replacing the middle with two adjecent letters gives a word.

And same for 13ac, a simple anagram.

Hoever the song isn't the Australian sitcom's theme tune, as I'd hoped, so I'm still searching for that - and lots of other answers.

Hope this helps and doens't lead you (and I) down the wrong path!

Jazzlover, your hunch is correct. Orson gave valuable advice on the Down answers.
