My only personal experience of the rut is watching and capturing shots of the red deer here in the local wild park.

Ari, I use a powerful zoom lens and keep my distance. I dislike the 'paparazzi' (males) who surround the rutting area. I find their behaviour disgusting . My photos are only on "flickr" :)
