Same old trouble - so much done and yet so far to go!

I have several answers whose parsing I don't see eg 22ac, 29ac 30ac, 44ac, 6dn.

Is there one replacement letter inserted on each row? - I seem to have two on the fourth row - bottom of 2dn, and end of 18ac.

All help welcome, and valued, thanks

Hi Dylan

Yes there are some rows with more than one replacement.

2 rows have 2
1 row has 3

22a is a double definition- cook refers to a cricketer

30a fence is to answer deviously in the wordplay say (eg)replaces the f

44a tele is the box
R is right
Round is o

Charlie is c

6d this is just the name for a woman from Carmen Miranda's part of the world.

Are there any clues that would help you on your way?

Hi Dylan.
22A is a cricket term for batting no 1 or no 2.
30A Eg, and Fence with F dropped.
44A tele turned, including C, followed by R, O
6D told to leave = Sent, time away becomes Sen. Hora = Romanian music

You're okay with 2 replacements on the 4th row.

Hi,
I am new to listener crosswords. Struggling with the last few clues, can someone explain 21a,21d and 24d & 35d. The above explanations were helpful too. Thank you for very much.

I have a full grid but the highlighting is unclear to me. I am trying to use a 4-letter alternative ingredient (the upper one) and a 7-letter definition of the phrase which also uses the first letter of the ingredient, making 10 cells in all, but I can't make it look sensible or 'explain the number'. Am I close?

Ozzy, I have two five letter words. I am stuck on the dish the corrections can be arranged to form. Can any one give me an oblique hint, is it one word or more for instance?

If you enter all the corrections into Chambers Word Wizard it will tell you the (hyphenated) dish, which I doubt you would have heard of or would choose to order! Not that you need to know it for completing the puzzle.

Hi Rob,
21A def is Will's braid, Caddy & SS
21D def is heads (headlands), scape = escape, with s going southernmost
24 def is drink too much, SOAK sounds like SOKE, which is alternative for SOC - the right of holding a local court

Thank you very much Meursault
I had got to 21d, but just did nto understand the wordplay. I also had guessed at SOAk, but do not think I would have made the leap to SOKE.

Cheers,
rob
