Morning

Filled grid apart from unclueds- don't have Brewers so at a loss as to what to fill in.

Any help gratefully received.

The 2 x 2 square is formed by the last two letters of 17 A, the third in 5 D, and the first in 14 A. Although 14 is unclued, the other three letters and the title of the crossword should make it obvious.

I found online searching to be far more useful than Brewers.

I started to get the unclueds when I realised a theme-related connection between possible answers for 24a and 38a and that immediately gave the theme word.

I can't see 1a or 41a?

Kaffir goes with 1 A.

There's no Panda! If that was for 34 D, it's Dandy and goes with 16 A.

I think I got 41 A from a word wizard thing - and when I googled it Banana King came up right away.

Thanks- did it on train but my bag is not big enough for a Chambers and Brewers.

I use Chambers word wizard but it didn't come up. All I could find was an American BK.
