rrrRobbo, I think that the extra letter in 14D must be T (the sequence from 11 to 20 should read TITLE - which is 'Paint my old LP') so probably touch up was intended to be 'TAT'. Not great...

Chambers gives TAT as TO TOUCH UP in the first entry for TAT so the UP is not an indicator of reversal.

Yes. Good points. Why would I think it was Pat when I had the extra latter as a T already? Over-excited at my early conclusion this week!

Loved doing this puzzle, and, as always, learning some new words along the way. Grid-shading is always brings such pleasure at the end of a tough crossword !

Can anyone kindly throw some light on the wordplay for 2D (extra letter L) and 35D (extra letter H) ? Nobody has mentioned these clues so far, so they might be quite simple, but they are bugging me nonetheless.

Thanks a lot.

Thanks a lot gem94...I didn't know LEW, and should've recalled MANI but now I'm settled and sorted :)

Nudd could have thrown in "Baby's in Black" for completeness perhaps.

Not a fan of clues like 20d either where the inclusion indicator ('around' in this case) is essentially redundant because of the extra letter gimmick.

Yes, that would have been a better choice than White, as the actual name of the work is "The Beatles" and the album's nickname contains the indefinite article.

Sorry, I meant 'definite article' :-)
