Thank you, zozozo and chrise. 'Hospitable' now has a new meaning for me. As for 'rot' - Oops!

I'm still stuck on the 5- letter Lake which would give me an island I guess ?O?O?SAY. My knowledge of lakes and Scottish islands is feeble.

Think what immediately follows the 'I' in the clue...

I'm not sure that we are referring to the same clue - which one did you mean?

I am assuming from your letters that you are referring to 1d but there is no reference to lakes in that clue. As Chrise says, the answer is there if you just describe what you see...

It's very small so you need to look closely!
