Actually it is two. 17 across and possibly 22 across? I also cannot parse 14 across.

will just go to find my grid now as I can't remember the other 2

17a Honesty ... HOY is the island with nest(home) inside

14a unstable ... unst is the island + able(fit)

The theme is 'I' not IMHO which is just an expression

17 is a word for home inside an 'I'

14 definition rocky and solution is an &'I' and word for fit

22 a word for spineless made up if an 'I' and an abbreviated word for to be in debt

I confess to being flummoxed by 26a "A very old revolutionary in America confesses" (8). I am sure 'che' is in there but...

Also not sure about 19d - "I, U and I deviate" (7)

Any advice gratefully received

26 che is in us preceded by a+ abbreviation for very old

19 the definition is an 'I' made up of a word for you and I plus a word for deviate
