Is BRANE a word? It's not in my Chambers. Maybe it's in newer editions.

Thanks for the last four entries. I had HOONS but had incorrectly identified the sequence in soldiers on horseback. Lack of attention on my part brought on by wordsearch boredom

yes brane is in chambers 13th edition - multi-dimensional surface embedded in a space with extra dimensions

I'm a bit puzzled about Hoons - it's in Chambers, so I thought it couldn't be correct as the preamble says '3SE is in the Oxford Dictionary of English'.

It's ridiculous if BRANE is in the current Chambers after all. The preamble definitely implies it's not.

The puzzle is playing havoc with my eyes! I have an answer to 1SE from the third excerpt that fits all my other letters, but I cannot for the life of me see the same word to be got from the first excerpt after the second occurrence of 32SE.

Sorry, forget the first part of my last post. Getting HOONS and BRANE confused.

Dryden, I've realised that the preamble refers to Chambers 2016 - that's so new, I haven't even seen it. Perhaps Hoon has been dropped from that edition?
