Finding this very challenging. 13d looks like a name. Someone Green perhaps? NW and SW nearly done but big gaps on the other side still.

In 13d, the definition is 'Bill' (of exchange) and the redundant letter is the 'a' in reactor. The second word is given by the wordplay, 'is enthusiastic about re(a)ctor'. I hope this helps.
My difficulty is with the nature of the interleaving. This doesn't seem to be by alternate letters, I can see some sequences of letters that yield words, but, as a whole, what I have lacks coherence.

Thanks. That got me moving again. Is 22a a kind of tent where there syllables rhyme?

Yes it is that tent.

Clever puzzle and nice endgame.

If you need any more hints let me know.

Struggling with end game which seems very ambiguous. First part I think I have the 42 (though I can find 2 instances of one of the abbreviated ones - albeit one fits better pictorially). The second part escapes me though - is it one 'v' to 'c' or do I have to 'c' one 'v' several times? I can see a string of 8 letters around one 'v' that vaguely make a 3 word description of a one-man band as it were but it seems tenuous in the extreme! Any hint would be appreciated!

I thought you c the first v.

The a in 13d.

This then makes the picture look right

Thanks for the hint djahufc, I suppose that makes sense but it is hardly as convincing as I would expect - takes ambiguity to even higher levels than normal with the Listener! I'm not even sure that the word 'race' in the preamble is particularly appropriate, it was hardly a race in any meaning of the word. And don't start me on double unches ....

I have a full grid (bar 6dn and 9, but the nature of the interleaving still eludes me. I have sequences (without interleaving) of 'die', 'faith', and 'blood': significant or mere coincidence? Any help would be much appreciated.

Google poem faith and blood. A quote that relates to 'Guinness'

Thanks, djawhufc. Soon after I had posted I deduced 9dn, then saw Lady A and twigged the Guinness connection. With your help, I'm sure I'll satisfy my OCD by unravelling the line and the instruction.
