No sign of the theme yet although the conventional clues present few problems.

Either I was lucky or this is the easiest Genius ever! The theme became apparent to me when I solved the first long clue.

I'm done, though I'm struggling to parse 1ac and 6dn. It's very clever, but a I think a couple of the clues are a bit iffy.

6d I think American is a letter between two sides ... I have an answer for 12d but can't parse it. And the whole left side is a mystery ...

You must be right about 6dn, but I don't think it's very good. 12dn is a letter representing $100 (new to me, but in Chambers) plus a 4-letter word for "sex god" (vernacular, not a deity), with "sizeable wedge" the definition.

Got the theme and most clues, but stuck on 26 across - a hints?

22 ac may be the easiest from which to divine the theme

26a is disembowelled attempt around a theme-word giving an extremely obscure group of corrupt politicians. I just have 27 to go now

Indeed it is, Prospero (extremely obscure, that is), but thanks!
