I have checked the other threads about this quiz but cannot find any help for the clues that I am struggling with, so I would be obliged if anyone could give me a hint or three for these questions.

9 Leading couples write aspirational serials (6)

12 Embrace oratory elocution in retrospect (5)

19 End of anchor breaks off against unknown...(7)

23 Old tunic disused but two taps gets it on. (6)

25 Fresh protest follows throw to catcher .(7,3)
(I wondered if this one was spotted ray, but cannot parse it)

12, There is a backward fish in the clue.

Could unknown be "Y"
With a shortened anchor.

25 is an anagram after a word for throw.

9, 1st 2 letters of words - can't think of any other clue.

unknown is often X or Y in crosswords. i think it comes from maths (either algebraic equations or graphs).
