Full grid, perimeter entries modified, 12 superfluous words capable of similar modification identified... now stuck on what to do... any help please?

I can see "teleport" down a diagonal but don't think that is relevant?

I think it is relevant, xwordfan, because that is what we've had to do to the three letters at the end of that diagonal. I've filled the grid too except for the third letter of 28a. I haven't got any further yet and I'm finding it hard to identify some of the superfluous words but I assume that if one of them is HEART, the H can move to form a new word so H is needed to spell out the second instruction.

i identified the superfluous words that I didn't spot on the first grid fill, by looking which words could be treated in the same way as the perimeter words.
What do you do with the list of 12 words - I have tried using the 1st letters - no use ... then tried using the letters after the same modifications have been done - still no use??

I think your missing letter is an R to fit the defn projections?

You just take in clue order the 12 letters from the superfluous words that are moved to form new words

that's what i've done muraria but they don't form a word/words just a jumble of 12 letters? CHAOL.......

Your CHA are ok then the next few superfluous words I have are
14A: open
16A: large
18A: choice
to yield CHANGE. This followed by another 6-letter word starting PL..

xwordfan, I believe your first five letters should be CHANG..... Does that help?

Thanks for the R, xwordfan. I still can't parse that clue but never mind. Some of your superfluous words are wrong I think because I'm getting CHANGE A L... and I'm looking for the later extra words.

I have OPEN and LARGE ..how do you get "change" out of CHAOLC??
