Good Afternoon Radio Timers. I'm still having trouble with 13d. The more I look at it, the less it appears to mean anything. An alternative clue for the hard of thinking please.

The answer is a song. There is an anagram of IRON (cast being the anagrind) in the centre of the answer and the remainder is another word for someone proposing (especially at a meeting)

Hi Drummer. I had trouble with that one too. The answer is a song title. Word for someone who proposes item at a meeting around anagram (cast) of iron. Hope this helps. Believe song was from Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Thanks very much folks. I should have known better, being a great fan of Johnny Mercer's lyrics, not to mention Miss Hepburn. That's me done at last!

Afternoon each, the late (though not in that sense or you'd need an ouija board to reply) Dandybandy here. Am I being thick. I'm looking at 16A, Uncomplaining state is to reform beforehand, until I'm blue in the face. I'm sure it's anagram of "state is" and the definition is either "uncomplaining" or "beforehand" but for the life of me I can't see it. Heeeelp! Ah there's a bit of blue sky and less rain over the rainy city. I think I'll exercise the pooch and check for answers when I come back. So thanks in anticipation.

Anagram "is to", then a three-letter state abbreviation (a commonly used one)
