Your last letter is incorrect. The answer is a description of like a weak glue so no misprint in the clue either.

I have only found 8 misprints although I have a full grid. The correct + incorrect letters are producing an unreadable jumble so far.

Thanks Phil. I'll take another look.
My misprints have guided me to a name (4,6) My first was in 12a) giving u and o which = j.

The last letter isn't "i" : you've spelt the disease wrong.
In 34dn I was taking the first letter of "rave"to be the misprint. I'll have to look at the poible solutions agin if it's the 3rd letter.

The monument in the middle is a red herring the 26 to be highlighted are 3 places that have a tenuous link to the discovery of J A.

54 is a hint as the discovery had 56.

54 divided by 3 is ?

"Possible" solutions that should have been. I'm fairly sure that the name is that of the discoverer of new facts about the ten-letter site which surrounds the centre in a ring.

Please don't tell me the places have to do with a game that is "a waste of a good walk" according to some people?

I can't see any at all so far : are the solutions in contiguous cells? At least I've finally solved 34 down : a very obscure use of the misprinted definition: Shakespeare and Spenser have a lot to answer for..
