Thanks djawhufc

Ok, I might be a bit slow here - I have the name of the book - but still can't see what this has to do with the semi-circles?

You have to connect them as per letters.

What shape is the book if you had it on the seafront?

The down message should read (7,2,4,5,2,4), if memory serves.

Perhaps I've got my seven cells in the wrong positions.

Hi crackabilly, would it help if I gave the position of the 7 clashes as (x,y) coirdinates.? It wouldn't take me long as I still have the PDF on my phone.

Hi again crackabilly, they are (3,10), (3,12), (5,12), (8,2), (8,5), (11,2) & (11,5). Hope this helps.

Sorry, ginge, but what do you mean by co-ordinates of (3,12)? If 12 is the y - the vertical - I end up outside the grid above the square where 3d begins.

Sorry for the delay in replying Orson but my battery died. If you consider the most southwesterly square of the grid as (1,1) and the most northeasterly as (13,13) ie reading from left to right and starting at the bottom, (1 right, 1 up) and (13 right, 13 up) respectively that should make things clear (grid position irrespective of clue number).
