I apologise for that then, rosalind - I was sure you would have seen them.

The other spectacular birds we used to see quite often were hoopoes - the frequented the golf courses we were playing on (possibly because the watered grass was the only soft enough for them to get their bills into).

Good day to you, Elle!
No snow, and I don't see any on the hills to the North, either.
It is cold, and a beautiful day.
Miss Jean's coffee?
I just like Nescafe best.
When they start asking do I want Latte or Americano etc, I feel like running away. No idea what they are talking about!
Yes, I have a wee interest in a horse Willie Mullins has brought over in our National. He is bringing a team to Perth next week, too.
You would like Eurosport, Elle.
Lots of athletics and tennis on there.
They have two channels.
Cycling is tomorrow.
Mackerel for my dinner.
I'll be glad to see the back of it!

Certainly no need to apologise!
We saw several hoopoes and heard them more often. Also lots of bee-eaters.
There was a whole posse of golfers at the hotel. One described an azure-winged magpie to me; I think he was quite disappointed I didn't rush out to see it, but we'd seen lots on the same golf course that morning.

Rusty, I prefer Nescafe, too! Most people seem to think that's bizarre. I'll drink cappuccino or a flat white if there's no alternative.

Hello, Rosalind!
I don't know what a cappuccino is either, I'm afraid!
My daughter-in-law gets nice coffee in Tesco but I have no memory of what it is called. Possibly Dutch-sounding?
I agree that folk think asking for Nescafe is bizarre.
Nescafe rules, OK!

Cappuccino is ordinary black coffee from a machine, with a lot of added milk whipped up with steam. You're usually asked if you want chocolate on the top, when cocoa or drinking chocolate powder is added .

It's usually Douwe Egberts for me although I wouldn't turn my nose up at Nescafe.
The jars are useful for storage and look nice too!

Hi, Rusty!
We are just back from a walk - unfortunately it did rain, but only a little!
It was very cold though!
Glad to be home and having a cup of coffee!
I see that blends of coffee have been this morning's topic!
I drink Nescafe if having instant coffee - but I only like Blend 37!
But since daughter bought us a Tassimo coffee machine, we can have a variety of types......Americano, Latte and Cappuchino being the family favourites.
But I only drink black coffee usually.
You must have bought a lot of mackerel? you seem to have been eating it for ever.....!
Are you having a bet on Willie's horse - what is his name?
I might have to give serious thought (soon?) to having Eurosport.
Am I right in thinking that Eurosport now have the rights to televise all the Diamond Leagues live? whereas the BBC will only be showing the Highlights?
I do hope that I am mistaken in this?
Otherwise, whatever shall I do????

Rossim, do you remember an advert years ago for Douwe Egberts coffee?
As I recall, the coffee was always brewed prior to an estate agent coming to the property with a potential buyer.
The coffee was meant to provide a 'welcoming' seductive aroma!

Hi again,

I favour Nescafe too but with a small drop of cold milk, and I only drink a small cup of real black coffee when in a cafe - the coffee machines make a very nice coffee and most cafe owners chose a middle of the road strength.

Rosalind,

I only saw the Algarve whilst travelling down from Lisbon by car so as to see the Southern half of the country; We only had an overnight stay in Faro and left on our way to Spain the next day. No time for bird watching nor enjoy the sun.

So interesting to read your bird sightings. There was a rare sighting of a Hoopoe in Herefordshire last year and the locals were surprised and delighted.

Elle. no I'm afraid I don't remember that advert.

I probably didn't drink it back in those days. Anyway it's usually during the ads that I go out to make the coffee!

I've tried to find it and it seems they advertise the jars nowadays.

I've noticed too that they do it in different flavours like caramel. Ugh!
