Good morning, Rusty!
Thank you very much for the birthday wishes, and for the video of the beautiful singing!
That was a lovely surprise!
It was incredible to see the amazement, followed by delight, on people's faces as they realised what was happening - and fantastic the way so many joined in the spirit of the enterprise!
The cat did come to investigate - he gave a few miaows!
So Lassie has finally done the deed......what a shame that we missed seeing it!
Glad though that all seems to be gong well - maybe we shall catch her laying number two egg?
The sun is shining here.....how about at your end?

Hello, Ros!
Thank you!
I hope your holiday is going well? and that you are keeping fit with all your walking!
Sorry about your rain!

Hello, Elle!
Nothing beats an evening studying at the library!
Glad you liked it.
I like the flashmobs.
Especially the dancing ones which erupt at airports etc and shopping malls. I often browse through them..
Lassie did well, on your birthday too!
It is dry but quite cold here.
I am just off on the "scenic route" to ASDA to purchase my paper.

Hi, Rusty!
Are you back?
I've had another look at Lassie - I haven't managed to catch sight of the egg?
She is obviously sitting on it though!
Have you seen it, how big is it?
I am going out now, as we are meeting our daughter and baby, then all going for lunch.
It should be good!
I'll be back about teatime....catch up with you later.......

Good afternoon, Rusty!
I am having a wonderful day!
We were treated to lunch by our (younger ) daughter!
We went to the Indian restaurant as planned. A delicious meal!
After a long time eating - and talking - baby slept through it all! - we came home, grabbed the dog and went to the park.
A very warm afternoon - temperature about 20C!
I hope your weather is good, too?
I've been reading the updated osprey blog.....I have now seen the Egg!
Great photos!
I shall now take a look at today's crosswords......
Have you done yours yet? Anything of note?

Hello, Elle!
Glad you are having a great day!
Our temperature is in single figures.
I wore gloves when I walked.
There is a bit in my local paper about the "laying of the egg".
Just a copy of Charlotte's blog.
I have done my crossword.
It was trickier today, so that's a plus!

Hi, Rusty!
Beautiful evening here...and still warm!
(Sorry you needed your gloves!!)
My younger daughter decided on giving me an Amazon voucher, rather than a Gift card!
So I have credited it to my account and shall enjoy browsing online to see what books I want to buy.......
I may even go into Waterstones and look around there.. ....I love bookshops.
Then I can return home and buy the books (considerably cheaper!) from Amazon!
A good idea?
Elder daughter and the boys have phoned me....they have given me an M & S Gift card.
I shall go on a spending spree!
Unfortunately, I missed my son's call - I must have been out in the garden...I 've just found a message from him on the answerphone.
He is going to try again later, from work.
I'm glad that you found today's Times 15x15 more to your satisfaction.
Conversely, I thought today's QC was easier than usual!

Hello, Elle!
You have done well on your birthday!
Yes, you can get books cheaper on Amazon.
I would not do that, though.
Goes against the grain after perusing them in Waterstones.
Not quite right, I do not think!
Yes, today's crossword was much better.
It's the only one I do, so I like it to be tricky!

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, I do understand what you are saying but in this instance I am only trying here to get the best of both worlds!
I shall explain...........
You see, the voucher I have been given for my birthday is ONLY for Amazon - I do not have any money for buying directly from the bookshop!
As I so love wandering round bookshops, I thought I could look around and see what new books are out by my favourite authors......and soak up the bookshop atmosphere...... I thought that would be so much nicer than simply looking them up online!
And there are always people around in a bookshop to whom I can chat, too, and get their opinions on a book!
I should enjoy that!
As the available money for me to spend is tied up in the Amazon voucher.... I shall eventually have to order from there, though.
Is this making sense?
