Hi, Rusty!
Home again!
We have had a lovely day with the family. I have been playing Snakes and Ladders with BB in between (and sometimes during ) cuddling the baby!
The Easter egg went down a treat!
It's been rather like April showers here....one minute heavy rain and thunder, then the next, brilliant sunshine (dog was not impressed with the thunder!)
Did you manage to get out for a walk between whiles?
I'm glad to hear that Laddie is back from Africa! but you have ruined your image.......there I was , thinking that you were out in the park (in the rain!) observing said osprey......and all the time you were watching him indoors on a webcam!
So the "personal reasons", for the withdrawal of "The Voice "contestant, were drugs related? I had wondered if that might be the case.
I had read this morning that she was "forced" to withdraw.
I should think so, too!
A pity about the other girl...she was a great singer...but I can believe the health issues as she was very thin and looked very frail.
How is the cycling going? and Lydia Ko?

Hello, Pigale!
Google "Loch of the Lowes webcam" and hopefully you may see some activity!

Hello, Elle!
I am not climbing up trees to spy on ospreys just for your benefit!
I have my street cred to think about.
Looking at webcam for a minute now and again is fine.
They are not in a park but reside near one of the Five Lochs between Blairgowrie and Dunkeld.
You seem to have had a nice day away.
It is a lovely evening here.
Nairo Quintana won the cycling. A great climber!
Lydia is going great guns.
She has a 3 stroke lead going into tomorrow's final round.
Lydia is a Korean/New Zealander and is ranked number one in the world and is only 18.
She is the real deal!
Now, as far as I know, the ospreys are radio tagged and can be followed anywhere. Certainly the ones at Loch o the Lowes are tagged, but the others on different sites may not be.
I have read reports in the past that a signal is not moving and that means the bird is dead or the tag has fallen off.
Hope the girl on The Voice is OK.
Pity she had to leave the show, though!

Thanks Rusty, I've just googled the webcam and I can see the osprey - don't know which one though, it appears to have a white fluffy head.
I'll keep watching every now and then to see what's happening!

Hello, Pigale.
That is Lassie, the female.
She rarely leaves the nest unless to chase intruders away.
A crow stole an egg a couple of years ago, when the previous female left the nest for a short while.
The male bird, Laddie, should bring in the trout, and sticks for the nest.
He will be busy when the eggs hatch!
Yes, just pop in for a looksee now and then.
That's what I do.

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, street cred!
My girls used to go to school with their coats wide open because of "street cred"!
It didn't matter to them that their noses were red, and their knees blue, from cold.......so long as they were see to be "with it"....!
I have been looking at an osprey on the webcam.....would this be "Laddie"? - how can you tell? - he (?) has been fiddling about rearranging the sticks of the nest........
I minimised the picture and went back to read my book, intending to come back and take another look in a little while.......
But it was very funny........cat and I were sitting on the sofa; I was reading , he was purring and demanding attention, when we heard bird like noises - chirping........down he went like a flash, and crept around the room looking suspiciously for the avian intruder...... he came to the computer but couldn't understand what was happening, so looked out of the window......
I had to laugh at him!
I saw the osprey spread his wings and fly off, leaving the nest empty - but I see he is back again now........fascinating!
I have just discovered that there is a Jumbo General Knowledge crossword in today's Sunday Times.....I may have a look at it...I did the Everyman early this morning.
I forgot to record "Casualty" last night.

Hello, Elle!
That is Lassie, the female bird.
She rarely leaves the nest.
It will be home to her chicks, so she looks after it, in case another bird would try to take over.
It is very calm there today.
Last night the branches were moving incessantly in the strong winds.

Hi, Rusty!
So how can you tell which is the male and which the female bird?
Are they a different colour? or do they have different markings?
The nest was empty again when I looked a few minutes ago.
Cat has given up and gone to sleep........
I shall need to do a bit (maybe a lot?) of tidying up tomorrow, as elder daughter and boys arriving to stay on Tuesday - beds already made up though, so one chore less!
I am hoping for a good week weather-wise, so that we can get out and about without getting wet! that always makes life easier!
I shall have to think of some imaginative things to do......

Hello, Elle!
I cannot tell the difference by looking.
It is the female's nest.
She is there the vast majority of the time.
The male spends most of his time away.
If you see one bird at the nest it is the female.
I do not think our forecast is very good.
Was a fine evening, though.
