I know it, mamya - a few (actually, more than a few) years ago some friends and I cycled the Coast to Coast. Went through Allenheads (after a night at Nenthead).

The landlord at the pub at Rookhope only agreed to open at lunch when we promised to drink beer, not tea. Is that pub still there?

I'm also a bit late to the party but having been using this site for many years (albeit only on a couple of regular threads)I feel I can be allowed my tuppence worth. I had noticed the Rusty/Elle thread, had a look in, realised it it wasn't for me and skipped it thereafter. Did not bother me in the slightest. As Mamya and I have discussed previously there used to be much more fun, banter and harmless innuendo (often regarding her knitting prowess) on this site but that was all spoiled by a few party-poopers and the odd (very odd) troll. It is all much more sedate now but still as useful for solving crosswords. It does what it says on the tin but a bit of laissez-faire would not go amiss.

Hi Mamya My daughter nearly bought a derelict barn in Allendale some years back. Luckily for us all someone offered more.
But if you get up this end even northerner than chrise in Coquetdale there is plenty of sky, wind ,space, and rumblings of independence
LOL
