Good evening, Rusty!
It is a lovely evening here, too...a bit fresher, now.
Are you going out for a walk?
I am watching the Men's Doubles Final.......
What wonderful exciting tennis!
Neither team deserves to lose!
I will admit to being completely stumped on my remaining two crossword parses....
I have answers and definitions , but cannot fully explain either?
27a: Departs before day is over, being stunned (7)
I have "tasered" = "stunned" (def)
ere- before
d - day
But cannot see the rest......am I approaching it wrongly?
23d: Bury Football Club at home in San Siro (5)
This has to be "inter" = "bur" (def)
But why, please?

Good evening, Elle!
Was out doing a wee favour for an old pal.
I have my uses, you know!
Great tennis and great cycling today!
What's not to like!
23, is very easy if you were but a football fan, Elle!
Internazionale Milan are a football club who play at San Siro Stadium..
They are almost always referred to as "Inter" Milan, or simply "Inter".
27, The day is Saturday, shortened and reversed, "Tas", "ere" before, and "d" for "departs".
That's how I see it anyway.
Hope this helps, a bit!

Update, Elle!
27, Just checked "d" for "departs".
Anne Bradford has "d" under "depart".
Maybe the kind of thing you would see on a bus/train timetable?

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, we are indeed doing well with our sports options at the moment!
This Doubles match is riveting......I am on the edge of my seat!
And I still have the Athletics to watch.....but that will have to wait most probably until Monday.
What happened in the cycling today?
Ah, yes, I understand now about the parsings.
I went wrong in 27a by assuming that "d" meant "day"....
But I would never have got the "football" clue!
Thank you for your help.

Dramatic day in the cycling, elle! Geraint crashed about 15km out and his bike actually broke in half. Amazingly he seemed unhurt, took a team-mates bike, and caught back up with the peleton!

Hello, Elle!
I am sure you would have eventually investigated San Siro and discovered Inter played there!
This was a great stage in cycling, with several different scenarios being played out.
The most important being the 200 km breakaway of four riders, which eventually came down to one, Thomas de Gendt.
Thomas managed to hold off two flying Frenchmen who were close behind him to get the stage win.
Lone breaks rarely come off!
The two Frenchmen, one was trying to regain the yellow jersey, and the other was trying to put time into his rivals to move up the classification as he hopes to win the race.
And in the peloton, they realised the break was going to stick, in spite of their efforts and the yellow jersey would be changing to another's shoulders. Then the sprinters (there were not many left) teams came to the front as there were valuable points at stake.
Just great racing, and tomorrow on Bastille Day, a Frenchman will be in yellow!

I liked this interview of Roger!

Hi, Rusty!
Thank for the cycling update....
I do like to hear about the progress of the competitors, even though I chicken out of watching the race!
What a lovely interview of Roger!
Wasn't he sweet with the youngster?
He seems such a lovely man!
I am looking forward to the Final between him and Novak tomorrow!
Tonight's (very) long Doubles match resulted in a win for the two Columbians.....finally beating the Frenchmen,, but what a hard fought battle!
Wonderful tennis!
The roof had to be closed on Centre Court because the daylight was fading!
And the Women's Doubles, which should have followed that match, has now been postponed until tomorrow!
So a good programme for tomorrow!

I hate anticipating the crashes , Chris, which is why I do not watch.....
I am glad that Geraint was fine and went on to catch up with the peloton!

Hello, Elle!
No point in watching the cycling, Elle, if certain aspects of it don't appeal to you.
I am very pleased a Frenchman is in yellow for tomorrow, and if a Frenchman clould win the stage on Bastille Day, that would be great!
The stage finish is at Brioude, home town of Romain Bardet, and I'm sure Bardet will be trying to win in his home town!
Yes, a great interview with Roger, pity we could not see the young lad!
I hope he wins tomorrow.

A Very Good morning to you, Rusty!
A miserable morning indeed here!
It was rainy all the time we were out walking and I had a very poggy dog to clean up when we got home.
The rain is supposed to cease at 10 o'clock.......any minute now?!
I shall have a look at the Everyman and the Sunday Times Cryptic crosswords this morning, before the tennis starts!
Yes, I, too, hope that Roger wins!
Are you home this morning? Or off to the Pine Cone?

Good morning, Elle!
It is a warm start to the day here.
Blue skies but the breeze has dropped.
I was out early.
I will probably go for a dander, later, too.
No Pine Cone today.
The girls are heading off on holidays tomorrow and I won't see them until they reurn.
