Hi Ros,

What on earth were you doing up and washing-up at 3 in the morning?!

Anyway, hope you enjoy your Christmas, and also the fact that
you do not have to cook!

I have now had enough to eat for a week and have come home to have a drink or two!
I was absolutely exhausted after working hard all day Saturday (two traditions, a Gingerbread House and a Tunnel take a lot of preparation and neither can be done in advance), plus dinner for 5 and decorating the tree (it is live and on its roots to be planted out later so cannot be indoors for long). On Sunday I worked non-stop until the family came and we didn't even take many dishes through to the kitchen- the children had to go to bed and I just flaked out. So naturallyI I woke about 8, went to bed , slept until about midnight, read until about 3 and then decided to wash up! I did go back to sleep after that.

Hope you have had a good time, and rusty, elle and anyone else who looks in on this thread.

Hi, Rusty!
We are finally back home again!
We have had a really great day....but are very tired!
The grandchildren were flagging, too, by the time we came home!
Our son- in -law made a fantastic lunch.
Roast beef, with all the trimmings, for all but my daughter, who is vegetarian ...and she had quorn turkey!
The presents were a great success!
So how was your day?
Did you manage to fit in all your plans?

Good evening, Elle!
Glad you had a grand day!
"Trimmings"? What sort of trimmings?
Have you tried Quorn? Any good?
My day was fine.
All went well.
Miss O's young man gave me a book about the code breakers at Bletchley Park, which I was pondering getting for myself!

Hi, Rusty!
I'm glad that your day went well, too.
How very nice of Miss O's young man to give you a book that he obviously knew you would enjoy!
A most thoughtful present.
The "trimmings" consisted of roast spuds, Brussels sprouts , peas , sweetcorn, carrots , parsnips, stuffing balls , and Yorkshire pudding, accompanied by thick onion gravy.
Oh... and pigs in blankets (small sausages wrapped in bacon)
All very delicious!
Yes, Rusty, I have tried quorn.
Actually, I find it tastes fine....I have used it as mince to make Shepherd's Pie when we have had vegetarian guests.
And whenever my daughter spends Christmas with us, I present her with an identical meal to ours, only everything "meaty" (turkey/ chicken ; sausages etc) is of quorn.
I am not sure that I should like to know the constituents of quorn though!
I have a feeling it might not sound very appetising?
Dessert was either Christmas Pudding, or Chocolate Yule Log. with custard, or the single cream that my daughter went out to buy yesterday!

Hello, Elle!
So, that's what trimmings are!
I had heard it said but did not know the meaning.
So, everyone had an enjoyable day!
I found this on YouTube!
How is your Dutch?

I liked it!

Hi, Rusty!
Oh bless her! I love the idea of a second job in MacDonalds!
I think she was very appealing as a ten year old; very natural and unassuming.
I hope she doesn't lose/ or should I say, hasn't lost/ this innocence with the coming of her present "life style".
I didn't ask how was your steak pie?
I am half way through today's 15 x 15.
I am a late starter!

Hello, Elle!
Amira is a belter!
I hope she never changes, too.
So, we can expect to see her in a MacDonalds, maybe!
Steak pie was fine, plenty left!
We have an overnight ice and snow warning for here!
I have forgotten all about the puzzle, it's so long since I did it.
Good luck with it!

Hi, Rusty!
The crossword didn't get finished because I fell asleep!
I am what I might call "happily exhausted"!
A quiet Boxing Day planned for tomorrow......
How about you? Any plans?
I am away to my bed, whilst I still have the energy to get there!
It is pouring with rain, now, and feeling very chilly!

Hello, Elle!
Yes, Christmas can be tiring!
I have no plans for tomorrow, just to get my paper, then play it by ear.
No rain or snow here, so far.
Hope it stays that way.
