Hello, Elle!
Yes, the Black Isle is not an island, nor is it black.
It is a few years since I was in Inverness, myself.
I remember finding a great second hand book shop in a converted church/kirk, there.
Don't tell the Wee Frees!
My last few trips up there, I bypassed Inverness and drove straight over the Kessock Bridge into the Black Isle.
A nice part of the world.
As far as I can make out, FDR's illness was kept from the American people as much as possible.
I liked his Fireside Chats.
Then my digging unearthed a Ukrainian woman who was friendly with Eleanor Roosevelt.
She was Lyudmilla Pavlichenko.
She was invited to tour the USA after the war.
The reason was that she was a top sniper in the Soviet army with over
300 kills!
I think they may have made a film about her?
Hope your cat will improve overnight.
Pets can be a worry!

Hey, Rusty!
I think you are right that there is a film about Lyudmilla Pavlichenko.......but I know very little about her, other than Eleanor Roosevelt making a friend of her and taking her on tour.
I think Pavlichenko was an athlete at some point of her career?
A pole vaulter. maybe?
Now... my husband went out into the garden earlier with the dog...and surprised a fox just depositing a newly cooked (it was still warm!) sausage on our patio!
It was obviously going to be his supper!
He was just settling down to enjoy it!
I wonder whose barbecue he had robbed?

Good morning, Elle!
It is dry here!
I do not know anything about Lyudmila being an athlete.
She finished her studies after the war and became a historian.
And Woody Guthrie wrote and recorded a song about her.
"Miss Pavlichenko".
The song is dreadful.
Who ate the sausage?
Maybe a kindly neighbour gave the sausage to the fox?
Any sign of your new neighbours moving in?

Good morning, Rusty!
A beautiful morning for a walk!
But I think it may get hotter later.
I am sure that I read somewhere (once upon a time!) that Lyudmila was a sprinter (possibly?) and a pole vaulter (I'm more sure about this?)
I shall have to do some "digging"!
We gave the sausage back to the foxes when we fed them their supper!
They live in an overgrown greenhouse at the bottom of our neighbour's garden.
No , no sign yet of neighbours moving in on the other side ......it will take some time for the sale to go through all the motions........
We were looking at a couple of months when we sold my father's flat.
Now for the Everyman!

Hello, Elle!
There is loads on YouTube about Lyudmila.
She does not look very athletic.
Not a slim woman.
Apparently she gave very rousing speeches to the Americans.
Telling them to get into the war and that she had killed hundreds of the enemy.
The song about her by Woody Guthrie is excruciatingly awful!
That is good you keep an eye on the foxes!

Hi, Rusty!
I am beginning to wonder if I have the "wrong" Lyudmila in my head?
It is a not uncommon Russian name, and there have been several athletes so called!
Oops!
But I shall persevere and see if I can turn up anything.......
I have finished the Everyman.......quite a nice one, but all "done and dusted" too soon!
So I am just popping out for the Sunday Times.......

Hello, Elle,
Lyudmila was from Ukraine.
Though she fought with the Soviet forces.
I do not think the sniper was an athlete.
This evening's "digging" is on Lyndon B. Johnson!

Hi, Rusty!
I was quite a long time getting my paper....
I stopped to talk to one of my neighbours , who was weeding her front garden.
Why/ what do you want to find out about Lyndon B. Johnson?
I am intrigued, Rusty.......?

Hello, Elle!
No need to be intrigued.
LBJ was my favourite President.
I like to learn different things.
It is my nature!

Hi, Rusty!
Ah, yes, I do know that.....
I had just wondered if you were prompted by something you had "come across"?
If your curiosity had been sparked by an incident you had happened upon?
Now...I was just about to message you, anyway, to tell you that the cat finally has just eaten something!
This may not sound all that earth-shattering........but to me it is!!
And he is now having a wash!
So things are looking up, hopefully?
I am feeling so relieved!
I have been very worried about him!
