It has taken me a while to see the yo-yoing one...but yes, I have finally got there!

And although I knew that the expression "saved by the bell" meant that something happened in the nick of time to prevent a usually bad occurrence, I didn't realise that it was related to boxing .......hence I missed the "counting to ten" reference.

The cat is off his food and has been sick several times......
I am wondering if it could be a fur ball he needs to bring up, so I have dosed him accordingly...
We shall keep a watching brief, and see how it goes.
Fortunately, our vet provides 24 hour Emergency Cover, so if 'push comes to shove' , we can take him in anytime over the weekend.
I doubt it is the heat as he is an "indoor" cat , being disabled.

Now, I am not content with 16d. "Impulsion".
I am happy with the first part, and am left with "sion" for "hill", or "before hill".
No sion in my Chambers, but Anne Bradford has "sion" under "hill".
Could it be a proper name?
I found a Sion Hill in Maryland, but surely that is a bit obscure?
And also I found an Irish singer of that name on YouTube.
What did you make of it?
Let us hope medication helps your cat come back to normal.

I have found out that Sion is the name of the hill that the city of Jerusalem is built on.
Wonder if that is what the setter meant?
Anyway, it will do me!

Ah, well I didn't have any problem with "impulsion" as I (rightly or wrongly) automatically thought of "Sion" for hill?
Yes, you are correct....Mount Sion or Zion is a hill just outside Jerusalem - Jerusalem alternatively being known as Zion.
I didn't think of this though when doing the clue?
I got a bit confused with "overnet" though, in 14a, for while - I thought at first it was something to do with the Internet?
I am sure there was some computer network called "Overnet" that was taken down as a result of legal action?
The "taken off" reference in the clue therefore threw me!
Eventually I consulted Chambers!
And discovered another definition for "overnet"!
My final parse was;
overnet = fish wrongly (def)
over- done
net - having bits taken off (from gross)
Right, I must away to take down the washing from the Hill's Hoist!

Been a fine fresh day for the Hill's Hoist!
Anyway, I did not know Sion was an alternate for Zion.
Anne Bradford has Zion, too.
And I looked up the "Rivers of Babylon" lyrics and Liz Mitchell of Boney M sang "Zion".
A minor mystery solved!
"Overnet" is a new word to me...and I know fishing!
But, overall a good puzzle...in my opinion.

I doubt the temperature has dropped much, though - it is still in the lower twenties , I would think..

We have yet to have dinner....... but after that.....

And I have started a new book by Ian Rankin.
That is my evening all mapped out!

They are in Inverness for the weekend.
I have heard of Ian Rankin.
I have been listening to President Roosevelt's "Fireside Chats" on YouTube.
Very interesting to hear him speak from over 80 years ago!
I did not realise that the President was crippled with polio?

I have been to Inverness , but many years ago now.
We stayed on the Black Isle - which if I remember rightly is a peninsula, rather than an island?
Another place I have since visited is Aberdeen, where I attended a Haematology Symposium held at the University.
We stayed in the students' accommodation in the Halls of Residence.
I liked Aberdeen - beautiful beaches!
I think most of the photos I have seen of FDR have shown him in a stylised wheelchair.
But for public appearancse he tried to "walk" with the help of a cane and assistance from his Aides.
He started the National Foundation for Infant Paralysis, which eventually funded the research for the Salk vaccine, with which to treat polio.
I think, though, that he himself was about 40 when he contracted polio.
The cat still isn't too good.......I am watching him carefully......we may need to go to the vet if there is no improvement tomorrow.
