Hi, Rusty!
Oh, not long to go then to the end of Le Tour........
You will miss it!
The World Championships are August 4/5th to 13th, and I am assuming will be covered by the BBC?
Although the Parathletics have been on Channel 4.
The Diamond League in Monaco is showing on BBC on Saturday.......it will be good to have Laura taking part.
There have been few Brits in recent events.
Laura is one very determined young lady...I feel sure she will go far!

Hello, Elle!
Laura was very chuffed at the airport.
She Tweeted a photo of herself just about to go into the airport.
Right above her at the entrance door was a huge poster of herself on the airport wall, with a good luck message from Edinburgh, wishing her all the very best at the Worlds!
Yes, Le Tour ends on Sunday.
I can not say "it's a long, long, way to Paris", any more, well, after tomorrow, anyway.
Tomorrow is another tough day in the mountains.
The Open Golf starts tomorrow.
Sky Sports coverage starts at 6.30 a.m. !
An early start for Sarah Stirk and co-presenters!

Hi, Rusty!
I really do not understand this "Twitter" business?
Is it available then for anyone and everyone to see?
How does it work?
And dare I ask what is its purpose?!
It all sounds very weird to me in my "ignorance"!
Yes, Scotland has many athletes of whom to be proud!
There are a lot of golf tournaments?
You are being amply supplied with Sport to watch and enjoy!
I haven't heard of Sarah Stirk?
I take it she is a key golf presenter?

Hello, Elle!
Twitter is available for anyone, but not necessarily for "everyone to see".
It's purpose is "communication".
In my case, I follow around 55 people and when they "tweet" a message it comes up on my Twitter page.
I can choose to reply, or not.
I follow folk/things I am interested in.
Reporters, folk from the sporting world, some history sites, Channel 4 News, the OED, Tayside Police, Loch of the Lowes, Britain's Got Talent, Cycling Weekly, New York Times, Salmon Fishing, Tour de France, RTE, Wild Atlantic Way, A Donegal newspaper,my local football team, etc etc.
Keeps me up to date with folk/things that interest me.
Laura Muir, for instance, has around 23,000 followers.
My account is "private".
No one can see who I follow, and I do not tweet.
I am sure your daughters may be on Twitter?
Sarah is one of the Sky Golf presenters. She's good!
There are several!

Good morning, Rusty!
A somewhat damp morning........still on the humid side though.
For a change I have a wet dog after her walk!
I do not think that I fully comprehend the workings of Twitter?
So do folk put info up on Twitter deliberately to educate the general public as to what they are up to?
Is it kind of like a notice board?
Could you then - if you so wished - respond to any of these comments?
Can one have a "conversation"?
My daughters have never mentioned being on "Twitter" - although both are on Facebook.
I shall enquire!

Good morning, Elle!
Bit dreich here, so far!
Yes, you can have a conversation by responding to a "tweet".
I think the limit on Twitter is 140 characters per tweet.
So they are brief.
Folk tweet what ever they want and yes, you can reply to them.
If someone you do not like responds, you can "block" them.
I do not tweet, but I follow folk to see what they are up to.
Like Laura, Cancellara, Tay Road Bridge (handy to know if there are restrictions on it), the OED (they tweet a word every day), a few local things like Police, Road conditions, Weather etc
I find it great for the News from Ireland, especially Donegal, for instance, that would not be broadcast here.
You tailor who/what you follow to your own preferences.
I follow 58 folk/things, some folk follow many, many, more than that.
I am not on FaceBook!
It does not appeal to me.

Hi, Rusty!
So in fact I was not far off, when I wondered if Twitter worked rather like a notice board?
Uhm..!
Thank you for further explaining.
Yes, I can see obvious advantages in the system.
No, I am not on Face book , either -- I abhor the concept!
(This has caused one or two family "arguments" in the past!
Each to his own!)
We have rain here ......it looks rather as though it has set in for the day......
We are going out for lunch shortly.......
We are taking friends to the local Toby Carvery.
This is as a "thank you" for their kindness in looking after our dog last weekend and taking her to the beach, whilst we attended the Parathletics!
It should be good!

Hello, Elle!
I hope you have a nice time at your lunch.
I am dipping in and out of Le Tour and the golf!
I thought the puzzle was quite tricky today?
It is a dullish dry day here.
Great weather in France! And very scenic!
Most of my family are on FaceBook, except me and one of my sons.
We are the old-fashioned ones in the family¡

Hi, Rusty!
Yes, we had a very nice time at lunch, thank you!
Delicious food.....and great company!
Very enjoyable all round.
There was a choice of four roasts...or a mixture..... of roast beef, turkey , pork or gammon.
Plus as many of the variety of vegetables on offer as one could eat!
Gravies and sauces to boot!
I shall need no dinner tonight!
And a plus is that the sun is now shining!
I have yet to look at today's crossword.........
How are you getting on with the cycling and the golf?
Have you had time for a walk?
