Hello, Elle,
I am reading a page or two at a time, Elle.
I am still on Bora Bora.
A NZ girl has fallen in love with a newly ordained priest and they want to get married!
Michener is in the middle of it, with bishops and admirals, trying to find a solution!
The US Navy have sent him to find out what is going on, and sort it out!
This is an American book published by Random House, in great condition.
Yes, your chart sounds the biz.
The front and back of my book has maps of the world with places he has lived.
Benbecula and Barra are highlighted.
I think he lived on Barra for a couple of years?

Hi, Rusty!
Your book sounds good - I look forward to reading that next when my copy finally arrives.
I also have "The Last Enemy" by Richard Hillary still to read.
That should be interesting, having read about Hillary in Sebastian Faulk's book, "The Fatal Englishman".
It will be strange to compare what Richard Hillary himself writes, against what Faulks' has said about him in his book.
I believe that James Michener won the Pulitzer Prize for "Tales of the South Pacific"? Now where did I get that from?
Did you tell me?
It is STILL raining!
Wellies tomorrow morning!

Hello, Elle,
Yes, it is a good book.
I think I did not tell you about a Pullitzer prize for I do not follow these things.
But he did win it for Tales of the South Pacific, I believe.
I think our temperature is above freezing tonight.
This lady trumpeter, Alison Balsom, who is on "Treasures" tomorrow.
She is wed to Sam Mendes.
I know that name.
I think he acts.
Do you know of him?
You seem to have had a lot of rain lately.
Summer has gone!

Hi, Rusty!
All I know of Sam Mendes is that he is a film director, who used to be married to Kate Winslett!
I didn't know that he had married Alison Balsom.
Is this the last episode of "Treasures" in this series?
You will miss it - it has been a good programme.
I don't have anything in particular that I watch at the moment...apart from Eggheads - and Casualty on Saturday evenings.
I like "The Voice UK" but I wonder what it will be like under the auspices of ITV's umbrella?
It has always been a BBC programme.
When does BGT return?
( I wonder if Henry ever progressed anywhere with his would -be sweetheart?)

Hello, Elle!
I see. I thought Sam was an actor.
I knew the name, that was all.
Yes, tomorrow is the last episode.
It has been fun and very informative.
BGT returns in May.
I'll check up on young Henry tomorrow!
Now, I do not want to spoil things for you regarding M'S biography, but I have a task from reading it!
This last chapter has been about his great love of opera and art.
He mentioned a coloratura soprano who he rated highly and I am going to explore YouTube tomorrow to see if they have any of her stuff, but she died in 1940, so who knows!
Her name is Luisa Tetrazzini and M said she has a chicken dish named after her? Nellie Melba had a pudding named after her!
Verdi's "Va, Pensiero, sull'ali dorate", is in my top ten favourite pieces of music.
M said it means "Go, my thoughts, on golden wings".
Never knew that! I just enjoyed the singing!
This feller is an education!
On the lead up to the opera, he told how his Uncle Arthur made delicious peach ice-cream, too.
A great book!

Good morning, Rusty!
It rained again whilst I was out walking the dog!
But now that I am home again, the sun is reluctantly creeping out - I wonder how long it will last?
Is your weather any warmer?
I had not heard of Luisa Tetrazzini, but a quick google shows that there is plenty of her works for you to explore!
(I am not very fond of opera)
And yes, there is also a chicken tetrazzini - many varying recipes!
BB started at "Wake -Up Club" at school yesterday.
The club runs from 8am till the start of school.
The children do exercises (I guess hence "wake- up"?)and then have a snack before the commencement of class.
It is an excellent idea for working mums!
You are going out for lunch today with Miss O, aren't you?
Any idea where you are going?

Good morning, Elle!
No frost today but cold here.
Nice blue sky.
I am not fond of opera either, except for one or two arias.
I like light classical music, though.
Had "Hall of the Mountain King" on earlier.
Finished the crossword, one new word for me.
Yes, going out with Miss O.
Going to ASDA with a bag of coins to change to notes, then going for a snack somewhere.
Your young ones seem to be doing well at school etc!
Long may it continue!

Hi, Rusty!
You have done your crossword early today?
I have completed the QC but will save the 15 x 15 for later.
I have some correspondence that I need to deal with first.
Now, I have earworms buzzing all round in my head!
Some of us were talking in the park this morning about "old" songs - and equally "old" singers!
I think it all started with a mention of the leaves....... do you recall "Kickin' up the leaves " by Mark Wynter?
Well, it escalated - we were humming....... singing (I can't!)...... and getting more and more frustrated as we couldn't remember who sang what!
I am (so far) resisting looking up song titles......but the refrains are going through my head!
What time are you going out?
I hope you enjoy your lunch with Miss O!

Hello, Elle,
Nope! I do not know that song.
Not sure if I remember a Mark Wynter?
Perhaps, vaguely!
I get "earworms" regularly.
Today it is "Scarlet Ribbons"!
Miss O is calling for me at 12, but she's always late.

Hi, Rusty!
"Scarlet Ribbons" is beautiful".
I cannot decide whom I prefer singing it......Harry Belafonte, Jim Reeves and Roger Whittaker all give lovely versions.
I think perhaps Harry Belafonte has the edge, for me.
Enjoy your lunch!
