Susan's clue was delightful i thought.congrats.
all respect to fieryjack but when a clue to an already known answer has to be explained it's possibly too good.

Belated well done to Susan, cheers Chris (Re: Post 24 - I assure you, no slyness intended)

Susan, none of us would like to see you be nervous or become concerned about judging next week's competition. We all have particular styles that we prefer but we try to be objective. How you arrive at the winner is entirely your decision and no criticism or displeasure will be expressed, I am sure.

Just a suggestion; you might find it helps to pick a winner by reducing all the clues to a small number of entries which you particularly like, then selecting from a shortlist.

Put my entry at the top!

I haven't even understood the 42 part of the argument, would someone please enlighten me?
Susan, I've only ever won Clueless once and generally don't enter these days, but I felt the same as you. There's no shame in asking the owners of those whose clues you can't parse (if any) up to the headmistress's (oh dear??) office to explain themselves.
Chose the one that most appeals to you!

Hi rosalind
"Deep thought" in "The hitchhikers' guide to the galaxy" (Douglas Adams) is a computer that has been built to discover the answer to "Life, the Universe and Everything". After several millennia of cogitation, it announces that the answer is "42".

Hiya Rosalind, thanks for advice. I'm ashamed to admit that my knowledge of 42 stretches as far as Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy! If you google 42 you'll find a more detailed explanation on Wikipedia! I'd be delighted if you have a go at next week's Clueless! Bye for now.
