I agree, with you Chrise, but it was part of the American war of independence in 1778, though there are at least 5 battles named thus.

Morning all. Didn`t find it easy this week. I still haven`t got 21 ac. though I have all the crossings correct. Is it the name of a golf course? The few I know won`t fit!

Oh - and I`ve got `slovenly ` at 11 ac which fits the letters and the meaning - but where is the knight? I thought `sir` should be there. Mags.

Yes it's a golf course.

'N' is notation for Knight in Chess to distinguish it from the King.

Not too difficult this week, apart from the battle site that I'd never heard of. Could someone kindly explain the parsing for 19a though? "In without voting" is the obvious definition, but I can't see how the first six words of the clue fit in.
