Thanks calliewag - I took it that you meant cockney rhyming slang and hopefully I have the right answer. Isn't it strange how clues that seem easy to yourself, prove elusive to others and vice versa?

Very true. I've just got two more that were so simple I can't imagine why I didn't see them weeks ago. But I get fixated on one particular word and can't get away from it - eg I was sure 'wickedly' in 14 was an anagram hint whereas it was actually 'caged' for the runner. New Year's resolution - must keep open mind!
