If it is a rugby theme would that make 32 across (unclued) odd balls ?

I'm not convinced that Liam Davie is correct but certainly ODD BALLS would fit there.

I don't think now that odd balls is correct, makes 21d look rather iffy. I had been thinking of repaired for that one but am not really happy with it.

There are a few golf references - might this be the theme . (Ballesteros, Bubba, rabbit e.g.)

I'm pretty sure that the third letter in the first word is d
