I can't see a post on this topic - apols if I've butted in.
Filled the grid, got 31 of the 36 extra letters, but can't make sense of the message they convey. Nor how to deal with the 6 unclueds. Any ideas?
Extra letters spell out "All pairs are in grid. Draw a loop around each." My problems are deciding on the unchecked letter in 35d - I think it is E - finding the words in the grid which need shading - never was much good at word searches - and working out out to draw the loops.
My mistake was choosing B in 4D rather than R. The message now makes sense, although interprewting it is another matter. 3 of the pairs seem to occur diagonally rather than contiguously and some appear in more than one place. I assume that if they are coirrectly looped and linked something meaningful will (note future tense) emerge. I've assumed that 35D has U as the missing letter - it is then an alcoholic drink, as are most of the others.
I managed to misread the instructions re what needs shading. They are the two unclued answers which are not thematic. Still puzzling over the loop and 35 down. My first thought was U but it is not really related to the removed character. Any hints would be most welcome.
It's not STUM - it's one of the two unclued words which is not in the four connected ones. You ought to be able to work out the connection when you have more letters.
Cloverjo - those 2 clues 6 is (R))OSIER and 7 is GRAM - I am 1 clash missing - which is A/B - and then unable to spot anything to loop. Be grateful for a nudge.
