Thanks for that, rosalind.

This has been entertaining while the cricketers have been off! Let's hope they can start again soon.

Talking of parsnips --- wow are they doing well --- put seeds in - in April and was not really expecting much to happen --- but they have grown and looking good, despite all the tales of how hard they are to grow.

My daughter and I each have the gene that enables us to taste the bitterness in green things, whereas my wife and my daughter's other half don't (they were both puzzled by us complaining about over-bitter rocket in the salad last night).

Hence we are in the "no sprouts for Christmas (or any other time)" camp.

I don't like Christmas cake either, and I can't stand Christmas pudding - bitterness again, I suppose.

I agree over certain greens chrise, --- I loath spinach ---- can't see the point in it really --- apart from I am told it is supposed to be healthy for me ----- ugh ugh ugh. When we are in France I tend to eat a LOT more veg because they sweeten the veggies when cooking --- especially when pureed

Christmas cake is revolting in MHO --- but a good Christmas pud is great -- but with custard x

Good job we are not all alike ----- and a good job neither of us are the President of the US ------ was it not Bush Senior who had an aversion to broccoli? Sent the whole money markets into a spin

Just as well none of you got to try my Jubilee Crown cake, then!
Roast parsnips are one of life's simpler and cheaper pleasures, I think. Well done, bob's mum, mine never grew and I have stopped trying to grow veg at all, except for asparagus as I garden on sand, effectively.
I was only joking Jazzy. I never even eat turkey if I can help it
