Hi jazzgirl,

I have tried that before and found they go slightly mushy ----- maybe now with the introduction of new improved varieties this is a thing of the past --- I am fortunate to have glut at the moment so I am going to try all suggestions ------ bet we all agree though there is nothing better than freshly picked veg --- carrots have been a delight so far --- especially the ,thinning's,

This is like Gardener's world....!
Hi bobs mum
When I cook them, I plunge them straight from the freezer into fast boiling water and simmer for about 6 mins. maximum. They are then al dente. Good with lamb and mint sauce.

Bobs Mum - we quite often go to Sudbury and we pass through your village. Like you, we have a village festival every year and we had ours in July. The first part of the village name is a number spelt out followed by two other words (fun this!)

Lush, sounds good to me, and going to follow up on this advice ----- this crossword forum is wonderfully more than just that. Over the past 3 years I feel as if I now 'know' people and love the banter and of course the exchange of important info --- like, what to do with runner beans etc, etc, ------ long may it last. :)))))

Jazzgirl, you do WHAT?? Don't you know sprouts are compulsory at C time?
My Mum used to blanch runner beans for 1 minute, refresh in ice cold water, drain and freeze. I couldn't tell the difference from fresh, but then I don't like them anyway.
My apples are being ruined by birds pecking at them, and I feed them. (the birds, that is).
Chrise, I would have voted for your excellent clue but have been very busy until just now when grandson restored to parent. Sorry
