I didn't know that doughnuts were that popular over there. We have a huge chain of shops called Dunkin' Donuts; in my little town there are FIVE of them (!), usually filled with cops, and I do mean filled.

i very rarely eat them ( and then only one)
"Krispy Kreme" doughnuts are on sale in virtually every supermarket here. My parents learnt how to make them when they had two GI's billeted with them
When I visited the US doughnuts were either sold by the dozen !!! or half-dozen

And obviously consumed by the dozen. Krispy Kreme was considered a Southern thing here till about ten years ago, when the first shop in MA was opened, causing a traffic jam. Ixion does claim that the American derriere has its own gravitational field...
