Good morning friends. Gosh! Another week gone already. Hope you are all well. Here are today's clues. Hope they'll provide a wee challenge. Happy solving! J

I set clues just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm (GMT + 1) to allow others to have a go.

1. Stands up top-notch party political leader (5)

2. Refit officer changes cut-off for electrical device (9)

3. Hit tune lacks an ending in current language (7)

4. Freak takes a pitch next to bad Western showman (7,4)

5. Harlot, not very sexually attractive, has some money invested in port (9)

Welcome Jazzy and Ginge. Wow Jazzy! You're in great form today.

Mr. Sun has emerged here in a clear blue sky, so I'm off out to make an attempt to do something in the garden. See you later

Reporting for duty, Jolan. I'm in Massachusetts. I only see 2 and 4 right off, but will dwell on others while out tending the garden. Perfect weather here.

Aaargh! Usual site problems.

Think I've got them (not totally sure about 1), but can get onto site so seldom that probably won't be able to post on time. Catch you later.

Have tried to post many times. This doesn't happen with any other site. Same problem with desktop, laptop, tablet, iPhone, and different browsers. I give up.

1. PODIA: def. "'stands"; AI(top-notch)-DO(party)-P (political leader) all reversed ("up").
2. RECTIFIER: def. "elec.dev."; anag. "refit officer" - "off".
3. ARAMAIC: def. language; ram-ai(r) (hit tune) inside AC (current).
4. BUFFALO BILL: def. Western showman; buff(freak)-a-lob(pitch)-ill(bad).
5. ARCHANGEL: def. port; "change"(some money) inside "harlot " - "hot" = Arl.
..............and thank you, Jolan! You got me thinking there!
