Livs, yes to both but along with 2, 21, 22 and 24 still don't see where the preamble fits in.

25A puzzles me as it can be parsed like a normal cryptic clue if you omit the word 'car'. That pattern doesn't seem to fit even the mash-up that's been revealed so far...

25a works if you add d to car

25ac - you have to add a letter.

Have read all your comments, hints etc with amusement and see no mention yet of 21D. I have answered and fully explained all answers matching all letters in the process except for 21D. I am left with the letter S, have the obvious answer that fits (starting with F) assuming the clue is simply the definition, which means the wordplay is the slang for S and I cannot for the life of me work out why it is S for ?a?r?

I still think the instructions are wrong in saying 'rhyming' - rhymes are nothing to do with it. Or was that just a piece of nonsense thrown in to suggest Cockney? Not right, in my view.

I'm down to my last one, which is 21. I've got two spellings for the being I have in mind, one of which is archaic. Can anybody give me a hint, please, as to which one it is (or as to what it should be, if it's not one of those)?

Ha! Having said I was going, I thought, 'Just one last look,' and I saw loads, so am now down to 15A (which I thought this a.m. would be herd + sag but isn't and the only thing which fits the letters is corsage, which doesn't seem to make sense) - ?? Hint or even answer appreciated so I can forget this.

And, like everyone else, 21D - though I have the letters H, O, S and Z unaccounted for. I also have plenty of answers unexplained but meh.
