Good morning friends. I've tried to make some today's clues a wee bit more difficult ("famous last words!"). Hope you enjoy them. J

I set clues just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm (GMT + 1) to allow others to have a go.

2. A single with its associated set are past performance (5,6)

3. India rubber tree about to fall back to a former state - green earth (5,5)

4. Patience, possibly, is the thing that is important (3,4,2,3,4)

5. Experiment encapsulating contact carrying guaranteed source of wealth (8,5)

The thing that first came to mind for 1 isn't a strict definition (rather something very like), but I'll probably go with it anyway.

Hi jolan et Al. Only just completed writing them down when lost network connection until now (same last Tuesday Mmm!) but at least it gave me time to solve them (though with aristo re #1).
