Both words begin with same letter as clue is for 1a and 1d

don't know why but shoulder straps fits
any more information?

Shoulders = bears, traps = cakeholes.

Thin shoulder straps are known as "spaghetti" possibly?

Thought of that but, like you, could not justify.
Pretty sure e is second last letter of 1a which would fit with shoulder. Also felt it had to begin with an s.
