Can anyone make any suggestions on my last 4 clues:
12a More than one sore old swindler's left out E??ER?
15a Cut old rule of descent EU???IL
22a Morag's to cure HER sudden fit E??I?T
18d Poet's grotto right next to square column (6)
BUT (i) there may be one letter wrong in the definition part of the clue
AND (ii) the answer may be 1or even 2 letters shorter than indicated!
Should anyone wish to take a look at the grid, clues & complete instructions (pretty complicated as always) they're to be found at:
alumni.cam.ac.uk/cam
There's no hurry, but after a week I really am exhausted!

Thank you, Rosie. Actually, I realize now I had that one already: at least we agree! Any idea on any of the others?
They're difficult but not impossible, as you see!

Many, many thanks, Kilgore. Are you doing the whole thing? Still trying to work out the consequences. Have an interesting shape on the grid now, tho' it doesn't mean anything to me at this moment. Any other hints?

Great progress made in the last hour or so! The3 names are suddenly obvious; the shape on the grid, too; just trying to work out the 2-word phrase in the column & the meaning of the other 11 letters. Anyone that far too to share the agony? A fascinating puzzle anyway!

Still puzzling over those blank spaces: we DO have to fill them in, I suppose?! Would appreciate ANY tip on this last move!

Am on the very last stage now, trying to fill in the form (only the initiated will understand: too complicated to explain, I'm afraid). I would still welcome correspondence from anyone else who may have got that far: it's been a very strenuous week, but at last worthwhile, I think.

Sorry if this looks like a total monologue, but I've now finally finished, & would just like to encourage a few others to attempt it: extremely satisfying when you evetually get there! It's taken a week with lots of to's & fro's, but was one of the best puzzles from any source I've ever done!

Thanks for the encouragement! I've got the three names and an idea for the thematic phrase - still no idea how to fill in the blank spaces though! But have 3 clues left:

Second rule ignored by first early arrival
Gaelic men are taken in by elected politician
Money withdrawn from field of study in academy - these'll help the teachers

Any suggestions/clues?
