Here I am again! Thanks also to Rossim, Rosalind, Jg and ginge for the nice wishes and comments. Yep Ari, Helen was No.1 wife and still is. I sometimes refer to her as my first wife. Again, sorry for being late this week. Hope the clues below will be entertaining. See you later. J

I set clues just for pleasure. I wonder if some of you excellent regulars would like to try a few? Since they're new, no letters!

Please withhold solutions till 5 pm (GMT) to allow others to have a go.

1. A skirt used to draw attention to oneself (4)

2. Breaks down, for starters (8)

3. Stole one to do wrong; sent away for so long (6-2)

4. Books about flying around GB, say (12)

5. Bill a flyer put in to give a lift for goods or passengers (11)

Very pleased that you are OK, jolan.

Lovely day, so we are just going out with the dog. Hope to have a look at your clues later.

I've not done very well at all today. One I'm fairly sure of, and two wild guesses!

1 tutu?
2 composts?
3 TOODLE-OO

Hi Chris and Rossim. Rossim has 1,2,3.

I put a goodly bit of thought into constructing 4 and 5 (they were meant to be more difficult), so I'm going to leave them there until Ari and ab have had a chance to look at them, if that's OK. I'll be off to din-din shortly and will pop back much later.

Unrelated to the crossie, I've always accepted the adverts on this super site, realizing they pay for its maintenance. However, recently the ads have become evermore intrusive. One can hardly move ones cursor around the screen (even when 'inside' a dictionary or thesaurus. Some of those ads do not even have an x button to close them down. For the first time I'm starting to dread that "starting hum". Is it just me?
