Finished, but I can't justify my answer for 19d
Winter gets victory over eagle (5)

The "victory over eagle" gives an answer that fits, but I can't find a convincing link to "winter". Am I missing something (or, more probably, someone)?

That's exactly the problem I had, mags - I was expecting just to find one "famous" one (that I had never heard of, obviously!)

My first thought was "30 second" must be half a "minute", but it took me a little time to fit it in the right place.

Yes, that fits the first 4 letters - but the last three
don`t make sense to me ! Maybe it`ll come......

Could the clue for 19d contain a misprint - writer instead of winter?
