Is anyone bird watching this w/e? I've only seen one wood pigeon on my bird tables today & its so windy & cold I think all the birds are in hiding to keep warm!

Since I had to cut a huge willow tree down near the bird table I see far fewer birds unfortunately

I was intending to do the "Big Garden Birdwatch" (as I expect you are referring to) tomorrow afternoon, but the forecast is appalling!

You might send a few of them over to me jazzgirl!
We can watch for the hour on Saturday or Sunday & judging by the forecast today might be better.
I've bought new food, plenty of fat balls, fat blocks etc & have 3 different areas for birds but I know a number of village friends say they are getting far fewer birds. I reckon they must all flock to jazzgirl!!

You're welcome to the parakeets and pigeons as they are so greedy

The rooks are the greedy ones here as they come in groups & one shakes the seeds & the others crowd round to get it. They spend most of the day on the roof top though so I can't count them in. I haven't seen a starling for years & we used to have lots here at one time ...... also a variety of different tits but again almost none these last 2years.

Our main change is that we used to get lots of Greenfinches. We rarely see them now, but gets lots of Goldfinches and the occasional Siskins instead.

Did my hour at lunch time. It has been lovely here this morning (cracking game of golf, saw a Kestrel take something from the edge of the practice area). Have to do my hour while the cats asleep, although he doesn't bother with birds (mice, frogs and the occasional slow worm ) the birds don't like him.
I had all my usual visitors including our resident Jackdaws. What I haven't seen so far this winter and it is probably down to the mild weather are Greenfinch, Chaffinch or Brambling.
The weather has now turned ugly so thats it for today

Lack of greenfinches and chaffinches here too. Two years back there were dozens. The chaffinches had a disease which caused growths on their feet which I did not notice until I zoomed in on my photos,
