I now think it should be T** P**** that goes under the grid. Any ideas?

Crosswhit I have an 8 letter word describing the goings on (look at my previous post). Does anyone else agree with harlequin that Tea Party is correct? It's not clear cut to me so I think it could be wrong.

Thanks unclued, I'd never heard of T*****Y before.

If it were the word describing the goings-on that was required below the grid it would say 'Word' in the box and not 'Goings-on'. The answer must be either The Boston Tea Party or The Destruction of the Tea in Boston.

Of those letters I only have P, E and R. So rather doubt it's that, and the rubric does ask for "a word". The only word I can make is a verb, only vaguely desciptive of the event.

I think it's a 10 letter adjective beginning with 'p' and ending with 's'

Ignore my last - I too have Plunders, so am leaning towards "The Boston Tea Party".

Ollie - look up bun fight in Chambers. I don't think Boston is needed because it appears in the grid. I don't send in these crosswords but if I did I would go for T P.

unclued - Didn't think to look up bun fight - would have saved me some time. Still can't see the wordplay for 22D, nor where the OU of plunderous comes from, assuming that's the word.
