Apologies to chrise, I didn't look at previous clues before posting mine. As worm has been used I will withdraw my clue and think of another.

@stevez by all means think of another clue, the more the merrier (how festive of me) but please leave your clue "in" and let the voters decide as slight duplication/overlap of ideas is inevitable with the word to be clued only containing 8 letters. I imagine and hope chrise won't mind, he does have the advantage of posting earlier.
