Yesterday's Waikato Times had a clue I cannot parse.

Clue is: Conductors sway in trains as bend is taken. (11)

Answer is: bandleaders

Any help?

Also, did I miss clueless out have I got the days mixed up?

Hi teff7,
Clueless is first posted on Tuesday usually late morning GMT.
Bandmasters is an anagram of "trams bend as", however I'm far from convinced that simply replacing trains with trams is the answer, I'll keep thinking.

Hiya Teff,

Working with the anag fodder of 'in trains as' and starting it with 'U' for bend, we have: Unitarians with a spare 'S'

I'll keep thinking

Hi Les,
Since it was yesterday's paper I assumed the answer was published in today's as "bandmasters".

Trains and trams look very much alike in small print. Perhaps it was a simple mistake.

You could be right there aristo, can't get owt else out of it. If it was meaning trams to be exchanged for trains then it's a very complex ghost

Just double checked, definitely trains. Maybe a typo? Otherwise a rather tricky (unfair) clue.
