Hi Jolan,
I have only just had a chance to look at your clues and saw the opportunity to get in first!
I'll study the others later. Thanks.

In addition to ginge, Hi to Jazzy (malEmute also), Chrise, Rossim Rambler and Ari (Have you tried getting someone in your locality to try logging on to this site? If they experience no problem, you'll have to look at your system. Love your parsing to #5. I didn't think of it in this way).

This thread seems a little lonely today. Was it something I said? :)) Anyway, here goes:-

1. skill = art; securing rope (nautical) = span; “in” yields SPARTAN = simple (Chambers def).

2. male mutes = MALEMUTES (Chambers alternative spelling)= dogs

3. bar = lock; gossip = jaw; LOCKJAW = complaint

4. “in there” (not fully) = LOITERS = lags

5. little lawbreaker = crim (Chambers); criminal (anag indicator) “aid is not in” = disination; breaking in yields dis(crim)ination = DISCRIMINATION = good taste (Chambers def)

I'm off to din-dins now. Will peek in later. Thanks for participating.

Bless

J

Forgot to add

In Chambers; crim = criminal
and I used "little" to suggest an abbreviation and "lawbreaker" for criminal
